Ortho-K

Ortho-Keratology

Did you know there is a way to eliminate the use of glasses or daytime contact lenses without LASIK surgery? Ortho-K is a possible vision solution for you. At Eye See in Lincolnshire, we use the amazing technology of orthokeratology (Ortho-K) to correct vision and control myopia progression. Our eye doctor, Dr. Vlada Nakhlis, specializes in fitting patients with these special lenses.

Who Can Benefit From Ortho-K?

Ortho-K works best with children and adults with nearsightedness (myopia).  It helps people to have significantly improved vision during a typical day, eliminating the need to wear glasses or other contact lenses.

Ortho-K is great for athletic people who cannot wear glasses or contact lenses during their activities. For people who work in dirty environments, Ortho-K helps them see clearly. Children often have a hard time wearing glasses at school without damaging them. Ortho-K allows children to be active without worrying about scratching or breaking their glasses.

When children and young adults wear Ortho-K lenses, the process of worsening nearsightedness or myopia may slow down. Ortho-K is an excellent new eye care technology.

What Is Ortho-K?

Ortho-K uses special custom-made contact lenses, worn only at night, to gently reshape the cornea. They are rigid lenses, which means they are a type of hard contact lens. Ortho-K lenses are FDA approved to be used while sleeping.

Ortho-K is non-surgical. People do not need to worry about the adverse side-effects of surgery. Also, Ortho-K treatments are reversible, unlike surgical procedures.

When Do You Use Ortho-K Lenses?

You put them on before you go to bed, and then you take them off in the morning. The effects of each night’s use will usually last longer than most people are awake. This process is repeated daily.
